Were you able to find places and spaces where you could really listen?
Yes for the most part our group kept it pretty quiet. I would usually stay a little farther back in the group where it was quieter.

Was it possible to move without making a sound?
Not really. I could always hear my shoes and notebook paper in the wind.
What happened when you plugged your ears, and then unplugged them?

It made all the sound frequencies turn into a simple low bass noise. It was comparable to playing music with only sub woofers.
What types of sounds were you able to hear? List them. If your original notes are legible, and include all of the sounds you heard, then simply link to the scanned image(s). If not, retype them so that we can read them. City buses, cars, high heels clicking, wind against buildings, wind against leaves, air vents, water pipes, pop and candy machines, turbine noises, echoes from cars in the garage, car subs, car ignition, tinking noise from parked car, paper ruffling in wind, sniffling, bike chain against metal pole(sounded like a flag pole), doors shutting, doors opening, footsteps, shoes scraping ground, people talking

Were you able to differentiate between sounds that had a recognizable source and those sounds you could not place? Yes most noises were recognizable but some noises were not. There were often noises caused by wind or things you could hear but not see. For the most part the noises were pretty recognizable.
Were you able to differentiate human, mechanical, and natural sounds? Yes those were possibly the easiest to differentiate between. Natural sounds, though uncommon were the most interesting because you could only image what was causing them(birds, wind, leaves, etc)
Were you able to detect subtleties, changes, or variations in the ever present drone? Yes the ever present drone seemed to increase and decrease according to where we were. If we were outside in an open area it would be much quieter than standing in a basement garage complex.
Extremely close sounds? Sounds coming from very far away? Again it depended on what the noise was and if i could recognize its approximate distance. Wind was a very hard one to identify. Finding the distance away of a bus was much easier because it is a noise that I'm so used too.
Were you able to intervene in the urban landscape and create your own sounds by knocking on a resonant piece of metal, activating wind chimes, etc.? The only sounds I really created was paper ruffling in the wind and my own footsteps.
Do you feel you have a new understanding or appreciation of the sounds of our contemporary landscape/cityscape? Yes definitely even though I do hear sound when walking I kind of ignore them to the point that I really cant remember them. This walk exposed me to those sounds that I often just ignore.
How do you think your sound walk experience will affect your practice as a media artist, if at all?

Well it could help in many ways. If I were making a movie I would make sure to catch the sounds associated with the environment being filmed. It also made me realize that I should take advantage of all the natural senses I have.
